What makes a company future-proof? In a time when markets, people, and material flows are changing rapidly, companies need to do more than just keep up – they need to think ahead.
BAUMA® was awarded “Company of the Future” in 2025 by the German Institute for Innovation, Sustainability, and Digitalization.
What matters today is more than economic success. Future-proof companies must be able to deliver, but also show integrity. They must adhere to standards while also setting new ones.
This is exactly where the award comes in: It not only recognizes ideas but also their implementation in daily operations. A reason to celebrate, but above all, a reason to share: What does the future mean for BAUMA®?
What is behind the "Company of the Future" award?
The “Company of the Future” award is presented by the German Institute for Innovation, Sustainability, and Digitalization (diind). The institute was founded to make the transformation of medium-sized businesses in the digital and sustainable change measurable. It honors medium-sized companies that take an above-average position in the following areas:
- Sustainability & Responsibility
- Digital Competence
- Innovation Power
- Employee Orientation & Corporate Culture
The award is aimed at companies that demonstrate through their actions: Future-proofing is not a coincidence but the result of strategic decisions.
The evaluation is based on a multi-stage process:
- A structured company check captures future strategies in the areas of digitalization, sustainability, innovation, and employee orientation.
- This is complemented by an external digital check that analyzes public visibility, online reputation, and strategic communication strength.
The award is considered a reliable indicator of entrepreneurial foresight in medium-sized businesses.
Innovation means: being allowed to question the existing.
- Der erste Hersteller mit Bilddruck auf Maßstäben
- Entwickler des patentierten Winkelbeschlags (Modell B400)
- Vorreiter in der High-End-Drucktechnologie für individualisierte Großauflagen
And today we are part of the initiative “Wir produzieren Deutschland®”, a network of medium-sized manufacturers committed to quality, loyalty to the location, and responsibility.
Because innovation is not only created through technology, but by the decision to do things better, even when no one asks for it.
Sustainability is part of our responsibility
Where new ideas emerge, there must also be the responsibility of how they are implemented. That’s why innovation at BAUMA® doesn’t end with design but begins with the raw material. Sustainability is not about reacting to trends, but about consistently taking responsibility.
As the first German manufacturer of FSC® 100% tape measures (as of March 2025), we use certified wood from responsible forestry and process it in our own sawmill, right on site. This way, we maintain control over quality, origin, and processing from the first cut to the finished product.
What else is included? Resource-efficient paints, short distances, and a durable product that not only measures precisely but also demonstrates what is possible when production is done consciously.
Think globally, act locally, and continue to develop with a forward-thinking approach.
Responsibility is not only reflected in the material, but also in processes and production structures. That’s why we think ahead, from the resource to delivery. We think globally, but produce with clear regional responsibility, such as through our plants in Germany and our in-house sawmill.
With locations on three continents and centrally managed production, we are able to quickly respond to short-term market changes without compromising on quality, logistics, or customer proximity. This enables us to create tailor-made solutions for the industry, craftsmanship, and promotional product sector that are not only produced to a high standard but also remain deliverable, even when circumstances change.
The “Company of the Future” award is not just a look ahead for us, but also a look back: at many years in which we thought differently, developed further, and found new solutions. Because we are convinced that real change begins where you do not give up on your standards.
Over 75 years of company history
Future viability doesn’t happen overnight, and our own development shows this. Since its founding in 1948, BAUMA® has undergone many changes—technologically, structurally, and in its understanding of responsibility. New materials, patents, an in-house sawmill, international locations, and FSC® 100% certification are part of this development.
The future is created together
What makes BAUMA® unique cannot be determined solely by technologies or processes. It is primarily the people who, over the years, ensure that precision becomes reliability and ideas turn into real products.
Many of our employees have been part of the company for decades. Others bring new perspectives and technical expertise into manufacturing, development, or communication. If BAUMA® is considered future-proof today, it is not because of a concept, but because many contribute their part, remain committed and open, and continue to think ahead without losing what makes us who we are.
Thank you to everyone who is walking this path with us
“The future” is not created alone. It is created through collaboration, in the team, in manufacturing, in partnership with suppliers and customers who think along, shape with us, and believe in quality.
We are proud of the recognition. And we are grateful for all those who walk this path with us.
